Kingsbarns Distillery is located in the fertile Kingdom of Fife, also known as the granary of Scotland, and is run by the Wemyss family. This family has made a name for itself in the whisky world not only as distillery owners, but also as a respected independent bottler. Through their many years of experience and expertise, the Wemyss family continues their tradition of producing high-quality whiskies that appeal to both connoisseurs and enthusiasts.

The Distillery Reserve 2024 is the Kingsbarns Distillery’s most mature whisky to date, a limited edition single malt at cask strength, matured exclusively in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. With only 3000 bottles available, this whisky embodies the distillery’s characteristic Lowland style, which is characterised by lively fruity notes and delicate floral aromas.

Six American oak sherry butts, known for their rich, fruity and complex character, were selected for maturation. This particular choice of cask and the careful maturation process give the whisky a deep, rich colour and a complex flavour profile, making it an excellent choice for connoisseurs of sherry-matured whiskies.

Tasting NoteColour: Dark copper gold.

Nose: Ripe dried fruit, figs, sultanas, toffee and roasted nuts with a hint of orange peel.

Flavour: Full-bodied, strong and round with sherry sweetness, dark chocolate, spices, oak and dates.

Finish: Langs, spicy and slightly dry with notes of leather, muscovado sugar and nut flavours.

Best enjoyed neat at room temperature or with a few drops of water to bring out the complexity of the sherry finish. Ideal for experienced whisky connoisseurs and collectors of limited bottlings. In culinary terms, the whisky pairs perfectly with mature cheese, game terrines, savoury pastries, but also with dark chocolate, coffee desserts or fig tart.
