The Tomintoul distillery, located in the Scottish Highland Park in the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.

At 370 metres above sea level, Tomintoul is the second highest distillery in Scotland, surpassed only by Braeval Distillery, which was founded in 1973. Although the majority of the 3.2 million litres of alcohol produced each year is exported to the United States for blends, Tomintoul continues to bring special single cask bottlings to the market.

Tomintoul’s Small Batch Cask Finish series is a remarkable no-age-statement series, characterised by its unique finish in a variety of casks. This whisky is first matured in bourbon casks, where it develops its basic flavours and characteristics. It then receives its special finish in Merlot wine casks, which gives it additional depth and a unique flavour. This combination of bourbon and Merlot wine casks creates a complex and harmonious flavour profile that will delight both connoisseurs and enthusiasts.
