Origin
The Woodford Reserve Distillery is located in Woodford County in the USA. The distillery is one of the oldest distilleries still in operation in the US state of Kentucky. Surrounded by picturesque nature, the bourbon tradition has been practiced there with great attention to detail for over 200 years. The distillery is also the smallest in the US state of Kentucky.
Production
Woodford Reserve is the only American whiskey to be distilled in copper pot stills and the only one of its kind to be triple-distilled. This gives the whiskey an exceptional depth of flavor. The distillate is then matured in freshly burnt American white oak barrels for more than four years in accordance with the American Code of Federal Regulations before being refined again in extra heavily toasted oak barrels. The whiskey is bottled at 43.2% vol., which is around 3% more than the minimum alcohol content for bourbon whiskey. The Woodford Reserve Double Oaked is a genuine Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey.
Aroma
On the nose, the whiskey has particularly elegant notes of dark fruit. Plums and cherries combine with dark chocolate, marzipan, honey and toasted oak.
Taste
An exceptionally complex flavor profile of fruit, spice, dark caramel and nuts meets lovers of full-bodied taste and is anything but one-sided.
Finish
The finish is long lasting. Caramelized apple, honey and spices create a multi-layered character here too. The intensity, complexity and complexity of the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Whiskey leave an above-average impression.
